Katharina Liensberger is on course for the podium in third place at the halfway point of the night slalom in Courchevel. In the first round, the Vorarlberg native also defied the rain at the poorly attended posh ski resort on the rapidly fading slopes. The former world champion set the fastest time, 1.06 seconds behind, following Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova (+0.17 seconds). The two slalom stars were able to complete the unrhythmic run with start numbers 1 and 2, Liensberger was 10th.

Katharina Troupe (start number 9) also sent a sign of life in fifth place (+1.66) behind Paula Moltzan (USA/number 3), immediately behind Katharina Gallhuber (number 22) in sixth place (+1.69). Things didn’t go as planned for Katharina Huber (+2.90), previously number two in the ÖSV slalom team. Franziska Gritsch (+3.00) will also start in the first race following being separated from the ÖSV team with a relatively early number in the final (8.45 p.m./ORF 1).
