According to tradition, eating lentils on New Year’s Eve attracts financial prosperity. Due to its many benefits, legumes are a health ally and should be on the menu at any time of the year.

Lentils are rich in vitamins and minerals. The food also has a good amount of fiber, a characteristic that helps promote the feeling of satiety and reduces the absorption of fats in the intestine.

Nutritionist Carla de Castro, from Clínica Sallva – Nutrição & Saúde Mental, adds that lentil fibers help with weight control, as they improve intestinal health and help control hunger. “Both soluble and insoluble fibers have an impact on the general functioning of the body”, says Carla.
