The elected mayor Federico Gutiérrez announced this Wednesday, December 20, three other names to continue completing his cabinet with which he will govern Medellín starting January 1.
Gutiérrez announced Natalia López Delgado as Secretary of Health. Doctor and surgeon expert in health administration, “a person with all the knowledge and motivation to contribute to the health sector of our city,” she said.
The mayor took the opportunity to express that “these four years have shown us the importance of health for the development and well-being of our city. We will guarantee access to quality health services, we will carry out a rigorous surveillance and control process in the sector, we will promote both disease prevention and healthy lifestyles in the population and we will comply with regulations to provide comprehensive and timely care to our people”.
López is one of the well-known faces because between 2017 and 2019 she served as Undersecretary of Public Health.
The Infrastructure Secretariat, for its part, will remain in the hands of Jaime Andrés Naranjo Medina. Civil Engineer, specialist in senior management, with 23 years of experience in public and private works projects.
In the last 15 years he has worked at EPM, where he led the construction of the Aguas Claras WWTP in Bello and stood out for his work in the Sustainability Management Management of the EPM Group. According to the elected mayor, Naranjo Medina will have as a priority to re-project Medellín “from public spaces for the people, the efficient management of resources and projects that once once more generate citizen trust and the growth of the city.”
Finally, in charge of the Youth Secretariat, he appointed Ricardo Jaramillo Vélez, who according to Gutiérrez “has an enormous vocation for service; He is passionate, intelligent and articulate. A young man leading young people, open to dialogue and difference. His sensitivity has opened spaces for him to address youth issues from academia, the public sector and political construction.”
These appointments are in addition to those of: María Fernanda Galeano (Economic Development), Luis Guillermo Patiño (Education), Natalia Ramírez (Human Management and Citizen Services), Orlando Uribe (Treasury) and Valeria Molina (Women). Adriana Garnica, who from advisor to the Ministry of Security will become the Secretary of Communications. Nicolás Ríos, who served as Secretary of Supplies and Services, will be Secretary of Government and Cabinet Management.
Sandra Milena Sánchez, who held various positions between 2011 and 2020, returns to the Secretary of Social Security. Manuel Villa, who was Private Secretary, will be Secretary of Security.
Likewise, Esteban Ramírez, who served as Undersecretary of Supplies and Services in the first Fico era, will repeat his office.
Luz Ángela González was first as Undersecretary of Planning and, later, as Secretary of Supplies and Services. She now became the Management of the Urban Development Company (EDU). Verónica Suárez was, between 2016 and 2019, advisor to the Private Secretariat. This time she will be the manager of Strategic Projects and Vanessa Palacio returns to Telemedellín, not director of the Information System, but as manager.
Paula Palacio will now be the director of the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area. Buen Comienzo will be led by Diana Cardona and Milton Vasco will be in charge of Metroparques.
The secretariats of Culture, Digital Innovation, and Non-Violence have yet to be defined, although it is presumed that this might disappear; and that of Mobility.
