The budget agreement concerns an additional effort of 1.2 billion euros, or 0.2% of GDP. It will be carried out in 2024 while respecting the 3/3 rule (reduction in expenditure, new revenue and miscellaneous). The total effort for 2024 will therefore be 0.8% of GDP, or nearly 5 billion euros. This will make it possible to reduce the nominal deficit of entity I (federal state and social security) below 3% of GDP, assures the government.
The majority praised Belgium’s economic performance, better than that of its neighbors, and highlighted various measures.
Conversely, the opposition strongly criticized Vivaldi’s record and the absence of certain reforms, including tax reform.
The deputies will meet this Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to examine the latest projects and legislative proposals to be voted on before the end of year holidays.
