Princess Claire of Belgium Visits Award-Winning Anti-Harassment Project in Liège Province

Princess Claire of Belgium was visiting the province of Liège this Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Prince Laurent’s wife continues her visits to the winners of the Queen Paola Prizes. The Athénée royal Air Pur de Seraing won the third prize from the foundation for its immersive virtual reality project once morest school bullying.

Princess Claire tries out virtual reality headset for immersion in harassment

Princess Claire of Belgium, 49, has agreed to assist her mother-in-law, Queen Paola, 86, in the activities of her foundation. Each year, the Queen Paola Foundation awards several prizes to educational projects and Princess Claire decided to highlight these winners by visiting them.

This Tuesday, December 19, 2023, King Philippe’s sister-in-law was in Seraing, near Liège, atAthénée royal Air Pur. The school was represented by Laurent Di Pasquale, social sciences teacher, and Sabrina Pittera, last June under the dome of the Serres de Laeken, when the Queen Paola Foundation awarded it its third prize in the creativity and innovation category for its project Be a buddy, not a bully.

Princess Claire discovers the anti-harassment project

Princess Claire was able to try this immersive experience herself by wearing a virtual reality headset. The headset allows the user to be immersed in a context of harassment. Heartbeats and breathing are felt by those wearing the headset and they find themselves in the situation of a victim of harassment or as a witness.

The school also sets up an awareness week each year as the winter holidays approach. Throughout the year, students designated as ambassadors for this cause – and identifiable by a badge – can be approached at any time to help defuse a situation. Videos used in virtual reality headsets are freely accessible and the project has already been talked regarding abroad.
