TF1 launches its offensive in free streaming

This is the heart of Rodolphe Belmer’s project. The CEO of TF1, who took the reins of the group following the failure of the merger with M6, just a year ago, lifted the veil this Wednesday on his latest baby: TF1+. This platform, which will be launched on January 8, should allow the channel to “become a leader in free streaming”, insists the manager. In his eyes, TF1+ aims to become a digital extension of the front page, in order to gain in size, on a national scale, to better attract advertisers.

In fact, if TF1+ is free, advertisements will be present – unless you subscribe to a subscription of 5.99 euros per month, or 59.99 euros per year. This platform should allow the group to boost its revenues on the digital front. In 2022, these amounted to 128 million euros, compared to 1.67 billion euros for television .

“A real reflex”

TF1+ aims to become essential in France:

“We designed the platform with the ambition for it to become a true daily reflex, the reference destination for family entertainment and information »says Claire Basini, deputy general director of TF1.

To do this, TF1+ will have 15,000 hours of content, which will be “available at any time”.

In its catalog, we find in particular 200 films, 200 French and foreign series (“ HPI », « SAM », « More beautiful life » or « Vampires Diaries ), entertainment (including “ The Voice » et « Koh-Lanta “), as well as programs for young people (” Paw Patrol » or « Naruto “). At the same time, a new information offering will be available. To know “five daily formats of 3 to 6 minutes” produced by the TF1 editorial team.

Agreements with telecom operators

TF1+ also claims “a new user experience”with “ergonomics designed for simple and intuitive navigation”. Two features will be released. The first, called “ top chrono », offers match summaries of 5, 10 or 15 minutes, with “a selection of the strongest moments generated by artificial intelligence”. The second, called “ synchro », is a recommendation engine, which selects the most relevant programs “depending on the profile of the people present in front of the screen”.

Above all, TF1+, which is intended to replace the old MyTF1 platform, will be well referenced on all connected screens. The television group notably negotiated “a location on the first screen, next to the SVOD platforms”, on the home pages of Orange, Bouygues Telecom and SFR boxes. Only the operator Free, with whom relations with TF1 and Bouygues are still difficult, is missing. TF1+ will also be present on the interfaces of the main brands of connected televisions. “From April, Hisense 2024 generation connected televisions will have a TF1+ button integrated into their remote control”welcomes the French television champion.
