iPhone 17, this is version 17.2.1. This minor correction is nevertheless important for Apple users, who are better protected once morest cyber threats.

In order to concern everyone and protect users of older versions of iOS, Apple has decided to take the fixes made in iOS 17.2.1 and add them in a new version of iOS 16. With iOS 16.7.4 Apple is therefore bringing new lines of code to its operating system to make it faster, safer and more efficient.

This update focuses in particular on a bug that affected many users with iOS 16.7.3 which prevented users from reinstalling a “native” application on their iPhone following deleting it. Normally these applications should be downloadable from the App Store with iOS 16.7.4.

iOS 16.7.4: a minority update

Apple offers security updates for all iPhones that are not deemed obsolete by the company (all models that were released less than 7 years ago). The Apple brand therefore goes back to the iPhone X, the 6 and 7 models being already recognized by Apple as obsolete.

For the vast majority of users, however, iOS 17 is their operating system. The latter is supported on many devices, ranging from the iPhone XS to this year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. A generational gap which should evolve with the arrival of iOS 18 next June.

According to several rumors, Apple would like to make fundamental changes in iOS 18, changes too significant to make the update available on older iPhones. The XS, XR and even the iPhone 11 models might be affected by the arrival of this new OS.
