The images are captured by surveillance cameras placed in the police station. The commander, Jürgen De Landsheere, claims to have never been aware of these. Neither does justice, since a November 2022 judgment only mentions slaps on two occasions. The police officer therefore benefited from a suspension of sentence and continued to practice. However, he was demoted and would have lost a small part of his salary in the process. He is today in charge of welcoming victims, according to Blast, despite “psychological and even neuropsychiatric problems, which greatly disturb him in the management of his daily life and his emotions”.
His wife, Inspector K., is also involved in the justice system for a case of police violence. She was convicted on June 15, 2020 for hitting “gratuitously” with her foot, says the judgment revealed by Blast, a man handcuffed on the ground. She ultimately received a suspension of sentence, and still works today for the Midi zone.
