Jaime del Conde Ugarte, delegate of the Red Cross in Aguascalientes, announced the start of an innovative telemedicine project, which will be launched on January 15 in the municipality of Tepezalá. This project aims to provide diagnostic and preventive services to inhabitants of rural areas with limited access to traditional health.
With an investment of 200 thousand pesos, financed by donations and the Red Cross, this advance in remote medicine is especially aimed at isolated communities. The pilot program seeks to establish a new standard in public health and improving access to medical services in Mexico.
The implementation involves mobile units equipped with cutting-edge technology, which will travel through various communities. Connected via the Starlink satellite network to medical centers, these units will enable doctors to perform remote evaluations in real time.
The units’ equipment includes advanced tablets for managing patient data, Bluetooth devices for measuring variables such as blood pressure and heart rate, a portable Butterfly ultrasound, an electrocardiograph, a multifunctional scale, and a camera for skin and tissue examinations. . These devices are key to creating complete digital medical records.
The project has the financial support of INNOVA, a North American multinational in the mining sector, interested in promoting public health in Tepezalá. In addition to remote consultations, the program includes risk assessments and patient transportation when necessary.
Del Conde Ugarte emphasized that the initiative not only aims at early diagnosis of diseases, but also at providing comfort and savings to patients, reducing the need for transfers and additional costs.
In summary, this Red Cross telemedicine project in Aguascalientes shows how technology can overcome geographical and economic obstacles to improve access to health.
