The clerk of the Walloon Parliament recognizes errors but refutes harassment: he claims that several accusations are “abandoned”

The office thus explains that “the explanations given today, although they do not appear in the accounting documents of Parliament, are not verifiable and are far from covering all the food expenses whose total amounted for the years concerned at 73,988.92 euros since, unless I am mistaken, the justifications provided by Mr. Frédéric Janssens concern an amount of 37,942.2 euros. Mr. Frédéric Janssens can be criticized for not having been allowed at the time to verify the professional nature of these expenses”.

Clerk’s visa

In his defense, sent to the appeals committee, Mr. Janssens provides evidence of these expenses in different restaurants. They target restaurant meals paid for with the clerk’s visa and which in reality concern members of the office, members of the registry management, deputies or even parliamentary committees.

It is specified that these are examples. Several dozen payments made for restaurant expenses are listed. The clerk gives the dates and the reason (bureau – extended bureau – president – board of directors – general secretariat – group president – delegation – conference of presidents – military police – a member of the bureau). We learn that a restaurant concerning the president cost €3,190. We still learn that a president spent 98 euros on bar bills. Most other restaurant fees fall in the range between 200 euros and 1,500 euros. The biggest notes concern larger assemblies it must be clarified. All these expenses relate to previous offices and not the current office.

It should also be added that all these expenses were validated by the Walloon Parliament.
