Idukki: The girl’s family will also join the government’s appeal in the Vandiperiyar POCSO case. A private petition will also be filed demanding that the verdict of the Kattapana court acquitting Arjun be quashed and the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Harassment Act should be imposed. For this, the family members will hold a meeting with the Director General of Prosecution. Arjun Kattapana, who was accused in the murder of a six-year-old girl in Vandiperiyar, should be appealed by the Director General of Prosecution once morest the high-speed special court’s acquittal.

It is important to point out that even if the court finds that the child is a victim of rape, the judgment will not provide any further action. The family will convey the demand to the DGP to cancel the current judgment and to include the sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act once morest Arjun in the case. The family still says that the accused is Arjun himself. Along with this, the Lawyers’ Congress will also file a petition in the High Court on the instructions of the KPCC, demanding a CBI investigation. The State Child Rights Commission will also collect information from the Special Public Prosecutor and the Investigating Officer. People from various organizations come to the house to comfort the family who is under the shock of the fate of letting go. A march has been organized to Vandiperiyar police station under the leadership of Youth Congress tomorrow.
