[New Tang Dynasty News, Beijing time, December 18, 2023]Recently, China has encountered a cold wave, and Nanyue Hengshan in Hunan has attracted a large number of tourists to watch the rime. Due to the shortage of transportation vehicles in the scenic area, thousands of tourists were stranded on the top of the mountain for five hours in the ice and snow. Tourists angrily smashed the public notice board of the scenic spot and shouted “Refund!”

Videos posted online showed that on the evening of December 16, thousands of tourists stayed at the top of Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue for more than five hours, with the elderly and children shivering from the cold. They were told there were no vehicles coming down the mountain due to heavy traffic on the road.

Many tourists posted videos and photos of themselves stranded at the scene on social media, attracting widespread attention. Someone said: “Who knew we would have to wait three or four hours, with thousands of people queuing up together.”

Some tourists said: “We started queuing up at around 3 pm and waited until regarding 7 pm. Seeing that there were no buses, we had to refund the tickets and go down the mountain at 8 pm. It was dark and the buses were gone, and thousands of people were stranded.”

A video showed that a large number of stranded tourists asked the scenic spot for explanations, shouting “refund” in unison, and some tourists angrily smashed the public notice boards of the scenic spot personnel.

A tourist angrily accused the Hengshan Scenic Area of cheating people: “The whole place is rotten. Didi is not monopolized by taxis. Taxis charge you 20 (yuan) per person and don’t even deliver them to the place. Sausages are sold in the scenic area. It costs 8 yuan a piece, and a bucket of instant noodles costs 20 yuan. In the end, thousands of people were stranded on the mountainside. I collected your ticket money and waited in line for several hours. Then I told you that the bus would not come, so I insisted on making trouble. Big, call the police over, and finally drive all the cars up. Is it useful? How many people’s high-speed trains were delayed, how many people had no place to go at the entrance of the scenic spot, and they will never come once more.”

Many stranded tourists had no choice but to walk down the mountain for two hours. “We didn’t reach the bottom of the mountain until almost 9 o’clock in the evening.”

Some tourists said that there were more than a thousand people stranded. “It’s more than a thousand people. It’s not an exaggeration to say tens of thousands.”

After the tourist stranding incident attracted public attention, the staff of the Hengshan Scenic Area responded on the 17th that all tourists have now been removed. Now the mountains have been freezing and it’s hailing. On the same day, the Hengshan Scenic Area announced to the public that the excessive flow of people caused traffic paralysis and ticket sales were suspended for one day.

Many people expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the Hengshan Scenic Area: “We only sell tickets and don’t care whether tourists live or die.” “Why don’t you think there are too many people when selling tickets?” “It’s snowy and it’s difficult to drive. The scenic area should know that, right? Still selling so many ticket?”

“If you charge so much for tickets, you have to send people to shovel the ice.” “If you know you can’t transport so many people, don’t sell so many tickets.”

According to online information, in January this year, a large number of tourists were stranded in the Hengshan Scenic Area.
