Whether we are single, have been single – and even sometimes when we are in a relationship – we have inevitably asked ourselves the question at least once: how to find love and where are we most likely to come across it?
What do you have to do to find love?
We’ll stop you right away: no, there is not one love place where you are sure to find love. Or, at least, we haven’t found it (yet)! If there is not a specific and well-identified site where you are sure to find love, you can still try to find some leads by asking those who have found their soul mate: couples married! When asked, recently married couples revealed where they met the person they married1. In the office ? To college ? In high school ? We might well be surprised! Because if 59% of French people have already had a relationship at work2…few are those who have transformed this relationship born at work into marriage!
Where to find love?
While romantic relationships at work are legion, they more rarely end in marriage. For find the person to share your life withit is perhaps better to focus on another meeting place… According to the couples who are now married1 :
- 19% met through mutual friends,
- 17% of married couples met at their workplace,
- 16% met their future husband and wife on dating sites and applications,
- 13% met love in a bar or nightclub,
- 10% were at school or high school,
- 7% transformed a holiday romance into a real love story,
- 6% matched at university or while studying
- 5% of married couples met when they were children…
- 3% met their partner through the family circle!
Morality? It’s better to focus first on your relationships and your circle of friends to find true love… rather than spending your life at the office and working overtime! The big advantage of such a meeting is also that we are more likely to share values, interests and points of view with a person who was attracted by the same friends as us. Moreover, when it comes to forming a couple, sharing the same values plays a major role for 83%.1 singles who now seem to rely more on sincerity and authenticity rather than physical attraction.
Here once more, it is difficult to find THE answer that will be unanimous. But the figures still speak for themselves: to find love, don’t neglect your friends (and their friends!) … According to the survey carried out by the Faireparterie1, this still seems to be the best way to find your partner! Another avenue not to ignore? Dating apps! If only 3 arrivee of the ranking, they remain the means through which 16% of couples met. A figure below since 24% of couples married in 2022 had met via a dating site or app but which continues to increase since they were only 9% in 2019 and 16% in 2021! What other advice should you follow to meet someone who will change your life? Rely on what attracts singles and try to highlight or adopt the most cited qualities, namely:
- have values: 84% of singles consider the fact of sharing common values determining in the choice of their partner,
- have self-confidence: 84% of singles believe that having self-confidence plays a major role in their choice of partner. Without falling into pretension or arrogance, it is time to boost your ego…
- be intelligent: judged attractive by 83% of singles, is the brain on the verge of becoming – really – the sexiest part of the human body?
- having a sense of humor is one of the qualities that make a person attractive to 81% of singles!
Furthermore, when looking for love, certain data can avoid wasting time: for singles, the fact of sharing the same religion (52%), having a certain social status (49%) or even Shared hobbies (66%) are considered to play a major role in choosing a partner. Unless you are ready to feign a deep interest in golf if your crush spends all his Sundays there, to feel capable of being passionate regarding the fossils that your target collects or break your PEL to offer castle life to your match, we advise you to quickly clarify things to know if it is essential (or not) that you share a particular passion or that you have a certain social status for consider planning to be a couple. Many single people ignore these concerns, but if it’s important to them (and doesn’t suit us), there’s no point wasting time in a relationship where we’re not on the same wavelength!
Finally, note that 70% of singles believe that physical beauty plays a major role in the choice of their partner. Our advice? No need to spend all your free time at the gym or on the pool table (read once more above: having a well-filled brain is sexy!). Instead, we recommend learning to love yourself. Firstly because it improves self-confidence and, secondly, because when you have self-confidence, it confers a kind of aura capable of illuminating physical beauty!
