US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin announced on Monday the formation of a coalition in the Red Sea aimed at countering “irresponsible attacks” Houthi rebels in Yemen on maritime traffic. This coalition called “operation guardian of prosperity” includes ten countries: the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Canada, Bahrain and the Seychelles .
“The recent escalation of irresponsible Houthi attacks from Yemen threatens the free flow of trade, endangers the lives of innocent sailors and violates international law”Lloyd Austin said in a statement.
