Ontinyent reinforces the budget for social welfare, mental health and Majors Actius
The Ontinyent City Council is going to reinforce in the 2024 municipal budget its commitment to social well-being, mental health and the Majors Actius program. A bet that for next year reaches 7.4 million euros, and that represents 14.05% of the total budget estimated at more than 52 million euros.
The councilor of the Treasury, Juan Pablo Úbeda, has presented together with the councilor of Policy for People, Paula Soler and the councilor of Majors Actius, Inma López, the details of the different planned items along this line in the budget project for next year.
The Treasury councilor explains that “in the budget for the year 2024, not only the investment chapter is important, but also the bet on the area of Social Services“, whose staff has increased from 29 people in 2019 to 74 people in 2024, highlighting the 25 people who work in the Home Help Service. This staff growth, in the words of the councilor, “demonstrates that We are not only committed to investing in infrastructure but also in people thanks to the various services and programs that guarantee the social well-being of the different groups that live in Ontinyent”.
Ontinyent finalizes a record budget of 52 million with almost 20 million for investments
During the presentation, the consolidation of programs and services that have an annual cost of 2 million euros and that in the words of the councilors “transform the daily lives of our people.” Among these programs stands out Major Assets, which goes from €27,500 to €50,500activities in civic centers with an increase of 34% compared to 2023 (from €55,500 to €74,389).
Regarding support for Ontinyent entities, the Councilor for People Policy, Paula Soler, stated “that they carry out a very important task and for that reason, either the items are maintained in 2024 or they are increased” as is the case of the agreement. with AFAO (€82,800), the socio-health subsidies that go from €15,000 to €30,000, the agreement with ADIEM that goes from €66,000 to €71,000, with the Red Cross from €10,000 to €20,000 or the solidarity fund that will arrive in 2024 at €50,000 or at the Hospital de la Beneficencia with a contribution of €100,000.
The council will put out to tender the psychological care service in the area of equality and psychiatric care for minors who “demonstrate our government’s commitment to mental health”
By 2024, attention to Social Services will also improve thanks to the decentralization of the area that will begin in the Sant Rafel neighborhood with an investment of 30,000 euros and which will offer “personalized attention in the same neighborhood” with 9 people from the Social Services department (2 administrative assistants, 1 home help assistant, 3 social workers, 1 psychologist, 1 social integration technician and 1 social educator).
Likewise, the commitment to fight for real equality is consolidated with an investment of €37,560, while maintaining the financial allocation of €115,800 for the Joint Responsibility Plan, which covers important services such as the municipal Playground. Likewise, in 2024 and for the first time, the psychological care service will be put out to tender in the area of equality and psychiatric care for minors that “demonstrate our government’s commitment to mental health, thus guaranteeing its continuity.”
Bet on mental health
Councilor Inma López explains that in the 2024 budget, the Plan to combat Unwanted Loneliness becomes “municipal”. A plan that aims to accompany those people who live alone and that will now provide “psychological care by the psychologists of the Ontinyent City Council.” Along the same lines, the Municipal Plan for the prevention of suicidal behavior through ADIEM with the accompaniment program for family members close to suicide or the talks for citizens in general and in schools because “we understand that prevention is key to breaking the taboo surrounding mental health”
