The Government of the City of Buenos Aires commands a series of cleaning operations with the intention of repairing damage and clearing the streets following the strong storm over the weekend.
According to sources from the Buenos Aires Government headquarters, there were multiple reports of falling trees that caused damage, so the General Emergency Directorates (Logistics, Emergency Guard and Civil Defense) together with the Fire Department, the Communes, and the General Directorates of Stormwater, Cleaning, Public Space and Transit are working to normalize the City.
The reinforcement of crews from the six urban hygiene companies was also added to the 15 maintenance and hygiene companies that tour all of the Buenos Aires neighborhoods and advance in clearing the blocks.
Jorge Macri, successor to Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, asked for caution when driving as a result of operations with machinery and incidents caused by the climate catastrophe.
The Government Headquarters also warned that the weather forecast for today predicts heavy rains during the day, although of less intensity than those of the weekend. “The main priority is people’s safety.
In addition, guarantee transit since the work week begins today,” they expressed in agreement with Macri’s statements.
Likewise, the head of Government described: “In the streets work is done that is sequential, first the chainsaws cut and chop up trees; then come the teams, the crews that run, clear the streets; then the cranes that load them onto trucks “We are doing all that work as quickly as we can. And finally the sweeping, cleaning, tidying is done.”
Although public transportation operates normally, community parks will remain closed “to guarantee the safety of residents until the risks have been avoided in each case” and work is underway on several power outages in the City.
