Demolition of the A1-Aurach Valley Bridge will begin in January

ASFINAG is completely rebuilding the 50 meter highest bridge on the A1 West Autobahn at the Regau junction in the lake area by the end of 2025. The bridge, which is more than 60 years old, is already showing its age.

So that traffic can be maintained despite construction work, a new bridge was built parallel to the existing one from August 2022. After the Salzburg lane, the Vienna lane was also rerouted to this new bridge at the weekend. This means that demolition of the old bridge and its five pillars, each weighing 17,000 tons, can begin in January. Six months are planned for this. Five new pillars will then be built in the same place.

Once the structure of the Vienna-bound carriageway is completed in autumn 2025, all traffic will be diverted onto it. This is followed by a delicate task from a construction perspective: the supporting structure of the approximately 420 meter long side bridge with its 15,000 tons is moved in one piece across the direction of travel onto the newly constructed main pillars.

The renovation of the Aurach Bridge will cost ASFINAG 65 million euros.
