Miss France 2024: Controversy Over Lola Turpin’s Elimination and Jury Voting Process

2023-12-17 21:51:44

Lola Turpin’s mother, Miss Aquitaine, is disappointed. Her daughter did not make it into the top 15 of Miss France, beauty contest broadcast this Saturday, December 16 on television. She was eliminated from the preselection.

For the mother, it’s “incomprehension”. She noted “some slightly strange things” which she confided to our colleagues from South West. For example, “Miss Alsace, who won the general culture prize, is not among the fifteen selected either”.

Her daughter Lola had won the prize of eloquence and the badge of camaraderie. So for the mother, these distinctions should have given her a place among the semi-finalists. The Miss France committee voted by hidden ballot, so Lola’s mother will probably never have answers to her questions.

The functioning of jury votes asked questions at other moments of the show: Eve Gilles, Miss Nord-Pas de Calais, was crowned Miss France 2024 when she was third in the public vote.

“We didn’t necessarily dream of the crown, but at least of a top 15 (…). She would have deserved to be able to express herself [pendant l’émission, ndlr]“, explains the mother, who says her daughter is “moved”.

However, she considers that it was “a great adventure”: “We must not regret. They put on an exceptional show last night. You have to give it time to digest.“.
