While basketball and handball have decided to take measures following the outbreak of violence which has shaken the department for several weeks. No basketball matches took place this weekend, following the referees’ right to withdraw. Many handball matches have been postponed. The Mahorean football league, for its part, has decided to continue its season. It must end at the end of the month.
Several meetings were affected by violent events. On Friday, a corporate football match was stopped at half-time in Sada. One of the players was allegedly the target of racist insults from one of his opponents on the pitch in the first period.
This Sunday, the R4 meeting between the FCO of Tsingoni and the reserve team of the Black Devils of Combani ended in violence. Scuffles broke out following the final whistle. The police had to intervene to restore order and disperse individuals from the two villages. An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie and one person was arrested.
