Wien Energie: New commercial on support measures for people in emergency situations

Now on TV, digital and cinema – no electricity, gas or district heating switches off until March 31st – 10 million euros as energy vouchers

Vienna (OTS) This winter, Wien Energie is once once more taking support measures for people in particularly difficult life situations. In addition to a voluntary waiver of electricity, gas and district heating shutdowns, Wien Energie has also put together a 10 million euro social package. A new commercial from the energy company now also provides information regarding these measures, which will now be shown in cinemas, television and on digital channels. “As Wien Energie, we are a reliable partner for our customers and ensure supply even in difficult life situations. Now in winter, our customers stay light and warm even if there is a late payment. We also work with social institutions and provide particularly low-threshold help to people in difficult life situations with our 10 million euro social package and our ombudsman office.”said Michael Strebl, CEO of Wien Energie.

The shutdown waiver applies from December 1, 2023 and until March 31, 2024 and for all electricity, gas and district heating customers of Wien Energie.

10 million euros and advice center for people in need

In addition to the shutdown waiver, Wien Energie has provided the social institutions Caritas, Volkshilfe and Red Cross with 10 million euros in the form of energy vouchers to support people in financial emergencies. The social institutions can redeem the energy vouchers together with the clients as part of social counseling directly on site in order to reduce outstanding bills and ongoing costs. In this way, the greatest possible accuracy of this measure can be guaranteed and support is possible without bureaucracy.

Wien Energie also supports people in difficult life situations through its own ombudsman office within the company. As a contact and advice center for energy poverty, the ombudsman has been supporting customers in difficult social situations for over ten years in close cooperation with social institutions. During energy consultation days, Wien Energie employees are directly at the facilities on site, for example at the Red Cross’s spontaneous help center, in order to find quick and suitable solutions for customers. The solutions are always individual and strongly dependent on the respective situation.

“Free and interest-free installment agreements and individual payment plans are standard for us and can be arranged for all Wien Energie customers at any time through customer service or even online without waiting time. “We are also one of very few energy providers in Europe that have set up their own ombudsman office for many years to help people,” adds Strebl.

The conclusion of installment plans or the reduction/increase of partial amounts is possible at any time online in the personal customer portal at meine.wienenergie.at.
