The ÖBB operates the connection in cooperation with the railways SNFC and Deutsche Bahn from France and Germany as well as the Belgian NMBS/SNCB. The trains travel via the EU capital Brussels.
The ÖBB Nightjet will initially be used three times a week. The connection is staffed and sold by all railway companies involved. From October 2024, it will be driven daily. For ten years there was no night train between Paris and Berlin. On Monday evening, the new connection is to be ceremoniously launched by guests of honor, including ÖBB boss Andreas Matthä. ÖBB is now considered the leading railway company in European night train connections.
However, the relatively high prices might be a setback for fans of the new night train between Berlin and Paris, writes the German news agency dpa. The cheapest offer for a trip at the beginning of January currently costs just under 45 euros per person, but for a seat including reservation in second class. In the couchette cars, prices range from just under 100 euros (berth in a compartment with six couchettes) to more than 600 euros (private couchette compartment). As of December 11, a trip in a sleeping car with beds costs between 165 euros for a trip in a compartment with three beds and up to 475 euros for a compartment with one bed.
