A look at the asylum statistics in November once once more shows the success of the asylum brake
Vienna (OTS) – “In November this year there were 80 percent fewer asylum applications than last year. Only 2,537 asylum applications were submitted this November, and in November 2022 there were a whopping 9,433 more applications. One can therefore speak of a long-term trend in the decline in the number of asylum seekers. If we compare the first 11 months of 2023 with 2022, we now see a decline of almost half. The asylum brake not only has a long-term effect, its effect actually increases. And a look at the European asylum statistics shows once once more that this is not a given, where the trend is going in the other direction. The number of asylum applications here has recently increased by more than 25 percent,” comments General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, on the asylum statistics from November, which confirm the successful asylum policy of Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and the People’s Party.
“We see clearly today that the asylum brake is not an empty word, but an effective package of measures. Consistent border controls, combating the smuggling mafia and faster asylum procedures in Austria have proven to be exactly the right measures, as has increased cooperation with the countries of origin,” Stocker continued.
