The general meeting of the Brin de cultures association was held on Friday December 8, 2023 at the Arlay village hall. After the activity and financial reports, Françoise Regard, the president, revealed what the next Pressée du Vin de Paille would be, which will take place on January 21, 2024.
“Arlay celebrates its straw wine”
In agreement with the participating winegrowers, the festival will now be called “Arlay celebrates its straw wine”. This, moreover, will evolve, as Laura Bourdy clarified, “to give the festival a family setting, more local, more festive and closer to the public. And we grow them, we might also offer activities which will be free and for the moment, there are three of them. »
If the general plan of the celebration remains, with the traditional mass of Saint-Vincent, followed by a small parade with the Commanderie des Nobles Vins du Jura et du Comté and the officials, the press will take place this year on the square of the town hall with small presses. The two inductions by the Commandery will be kept, one of which will see Mgr Garin inducted at the end of the mass.
Lots of entertainment
The village hall will host four winegrowers who, in good conditions, will offer wine tastings, while the producers’ market will be reduced, but will include a demonstration of morbier making. The public will find the blacksmith Delval. Children will enjoy the Ptits Bois de Sagy mini farm with its animals.
Various workshops will also be present with the help of local wine growers. For catering, the organizers are planning a giant fondue from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., under a heated marquee, as well as a refreshment bar with mulled wine, chestnuts, waffles and cotton candy.
All the details of the festival have not yet been decided and future meetings will allow the program to be refined to give it its particular, family and more intimate character, thus preventing it from being confused by some with the Breakthrough of the Yellow Wine.
