Solar power plants were in high demand in 2023. According to the Climate Ministry, more than 160,000 funding commitments for photovoltaic (PV) systems with a total volume of 600 million euros were made this year. The ministry announced that all private applications had been approved and the funding record from 2022 had been exceeded. The resulting annual electricity generation corresponds to the average consumption of more than 800,000 households.
The path to solar power for private individuals will be easier in the future. From 2024, the 20 percent sales tax will no longer apply for small PV systems up to 35 kilowatt peak. A funding application for private individuals is no longer necessary, it said.
