This Saturday, December 16, an unfortunate news shocked Colombia: the talented musician Óscar Agudelo, also known as ‘El Zorzal Criollo’, passed away. The singer was the voice of the unforgettable ‘Cama Vacía’.

According to Noticias Caracol, the musician’s health status had been compromised for several months.

The 91-year-old singer suffered from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, diseases that quickly damaged his physical health.

Since his childhood, Óscar Agudelo expressed his appreciation for music by immersing himself in the universe of songs in a parish in Padua, located in the department of Tolima.

During his life, when he left high school in Ibagué, he settled in Girardot, where he worked as an employee in a warehouse. It was in this city where he earned his first win in an amateur contest broadcast on the radio, thus cementing his position as an emerging talent on the music scene.

However, his vocation for boleros made him begin his musical training in Pereira and Medellín. Finally, in 1953 he began his artistic career.

Óscar Agudelo delighted not only the country but all of Latin America with his songs; Therefore, since his birth in Tolima, on September 23, 1932, until today his music will continue to sound in many homes.

It should be noted that among his most popular interpretations are: ‘La cama vaca’, by Olimpo Cárdenas, and ‘Since you left’, by Julio Jaramillo, among others.
