A Apple released iOS 17.2 a few days ago with bug fixes and new features for users, such as the Diary app and more commands that can be linked to the action button on compatible iPhones. In addition to these new features, the system also received an important security improvement, preventing attacks via Flipper Zero.
A vulnerability in iOS 17.1 and earlier reportedly allowed bad actors to send a brute force attack via Bluetooth from a Flipper Zero to the iPhone. The massive triggering of hundreds of simultaneous connection requests caused the cell phone to freeze and require a restart.
The attack might be sent to iPhones within a radius of up to 50 meters with reports of situations happening at concerts, trains and other places open to the public. With the update to the latest version, iOS becomes immune to this procedure even though initially some pop-ups with connection requests appear.
Previously, to avoid being hacked by a Flipper Zero it was necessary to disable Bluetooth, a measure that prevents the use of wireless devices such as headphones and smart bracelets, for example. Apple recommends that all iPhone owners install the latest version of the system.
To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download iOS 17.2.
Even if it is a pentest tool With a simple interface and user-friendly design, Flipper Zero was banned in Brazil by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) for not being approved by the regulatory body.
