It was on X (formerly Twitter) that a user with the nickname Jenbo published a screenshot with a simple message: “My mother played 16,395.4 hours of Civilization 3”. A true legendary opus in the strategy game saga, we might almost understand this mother for having devoted so much time to it. In total, these are two full years (1.87) she spent playing to the production of Firaxis Games.
The player who shared this surprising story explains that his mother began playing early in her retirement. She usually spends her followingnoons playing Civilization 3, by choosing Japan. He continues his calculations and deduces that his mother’s playing time would correspond to someone who has played 2.6 hours per day since the time of the production’s release.

“I had a lot of vacation during my first summer at Firaxis (…) However, I don’t remember a single day off during the summer of 2001. It was really difficult to finish it. I only learned regarding the 9/11 terrorist attacks, when I arrived at the office at one o’clock in the followingnoon following a very, very long night of work and was wondering where the hell everyone was. I thought maybe the day before was Saturday.”
