The events of the seventeenth edition of the Emirates Children’s Theater Festival, organized by the Emirates Dramatists Association, will begin this evening, Sunday, December 17, 2023 AD, and enjoy the kind patronage and generous support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah.
Six theatrical performances, produced by local theater groups in the Emirates, will participate in this session: the play “The Other World” written by Hamad Al-Dhanhani and directed by Ibrahim Al-Qahomi, the play “Moon Island” written by Sheikha Sarah bint Muhammad bin Majid Al-Qasimi, and directed by Abdullah Al-Huraibi, and the play “ “Jewel of the Earth” written by Talal Mahmoud, directed by Saber Rajab, the play “The Cute Ghost” written by Ahmed Al Majed and directed by Hamad Abdel Razzaq, the play “Kangaroo” written and directed by Salem Al Tamimi, and the play “The Creators” written by Othman Al Shatti and directed by Mubarak Machi, which will be held at the Palace Culture in Sharjah to provide its creativity to the children’s audience keen to follow the performances of this festival since the launch of its first session in the year 2005 until now, and these six bands will compete for the festival prizes that will be presented to the winners at the closing ceremony of this session, on the twenty-third of this month.
The opening ceremony of this session will include the introduction of the adult jury, who are: Haifa Hussein, Chairman of the Committee, Abdullah Saleh, Faisal Al Darmaki, Muhammad Haji and Saeed Al Harasi. The children’s jury, namely: the child Reem Ali Al-Zarouni, the child Farah Fahd Talal, and the child Nada Ahmed Hassan Al-Balushi. A documentary film will also be shown that includes an overview of the festival and the most important milestones it has passed since its inception until now, in addition to celebrating and introducing the personality of this session of the festival, the artist. After the conclusion of the opening ceremony, the play “The Other World” will be presented, produced by the Dibba Society for Culture, Arts and Theater, and represented by the artists: Ayman Al-Khadeem, Adel Sabet, Abdullah Nabil, Jodi, Muhammad Al-Abdouli, Ali Al-Ghais, Mona Al-Balushi, Saeed Al-Naour, and Sultan Sharara.
