The Christmas period makes you want a little bit of magic and enchantment. In recent years, the month of December is the occasion for several light festivals. Gigantic colored lanterns that come to life once night falls.
Thousands of lights, animals from all times, dazzling characters, like this giant Buddha or these Mongolian people. No matter how cold it is, throughout the winter, as soon as night falls, visitors to Thoiry Park (Yvelines) wander through this world worthy of a fairy tale. It took a year to set up this festival, the images of which we discover in the TF1 report at the top of this article. Around 2000 lanterns are on display, sometimes exposed to humidity and wind. Every day, Émilie Félix, the scenographer, inspects and repairs them with great care.
400,000 visitors announced in Montauban
It is more than 500 kilometers away, in Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne), that the largest lantern festival in France takes place each year. We were able to witness the preparations. To manufacture the 2,500 lanterns, 80 technicians came from China. Today, this know-how has become a business, and this magical event has a cost: almost four million euros. But with the 400,000 visitors announced, it should bring three times more to the town of Montauban.
