For a majority of compatriots, the decisive factor is the salary and the atmosphere: almost 93 percent of employees describe the salary as an important aspect when choosing their employer, and for around 90 percent the relationship with colleagues is decisive. This is the result of a current survey that the job network Xing commissioned from the market research institute marketagent.
In October, around 900 employed Austrians between the ages of 18 and 65 were surveyed regarding their preferences in the workplace. A total of 17 different aspects were queried; the results vary depending on gender, age and level of education.
The offer of company health care is important for around 63 percent of employees, but for more than 68 percent of female employees and only for around 58 percent of employees.
The desire for flexibility
For 77 percent of those surveyed, flexible working hours are an important aspect when choosing their workplace. The group of 40 to 49 year olds appreciates this most (83 percent). 23 percent of those surveyed consider company childcare to be important.
Around a third would like the opportunity to take a sabbatical (several months off from work) or work. This enables employees to work from anywhere. This is more important to respondents with a high school diploma than to those without a high school diploma. The study shows that the desire to work from home is particularly great in western Austria. It is least pronounced in Upper Austria and Salzburg: here only a fifth were in favor of it.
