Supporters Unite: Putin’s Candidacy Backed for Fifth Term in Russian Presidential Elections

An initiative group of voters at a meeting in Zaryadye supported the candidacy of Vladimir Putin as a self-nominated candidate in the Russian presidential elections. Interfax reports this.

The corresponding decision was made unanimously.

To the initiative group for the nomination entered Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak, Speaker of the Parliament of the annexed DPR Artem Zhoga, former athletes Tatyana Navka and Jeffrey Monson, actors Dmitry Pevtsov and Vladimir Mashkov, singer Yaroslav Dronov (Shaman), chess player Sergei Karyakin, conductor Valery Gergiev, pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko and several dozen more people.

Now the minutes of the meeting will be sent to the Central Election Commission, and following registering the initiative group, Putin’s supporters will be able to officially begin collecting signatures.

Vladimir Putin is serving his fifth presidential term. Thanks to constitutional amendments adopted in 2020, he has the right to remain in power until 2036.

The Russian presidential elections will take place over three days, from March 15 to 17, 2024.
