For amusement or leisure parks, the last few years have been full of change. Investments have been numerous, with new attractions, new areas created and some benchmark attractions in Europe. We also think of the hotels that have emerged in Plopsaland or Pairi Daiza, without forgetting the work underway in Walibi. To finance all this, the prices of tickets and subscriptions inevitably increase, but the parks are also thinking regarding new methods.
This year, Walibi will only close for a few weeks: for the first time, the park will open its doors at Christmas “in an enchanted world”
The simplest thing is obviously to extend the opening periods. Pairi Daiza has been open all year round since February 2021, with a short closure of a few weeks following the Christmas holidays. This year once more, the park wants to pull out all the stops. “At Pairi Daiza, Christmas Time began on December 2 with, every day until January 6, 2024, grandiose illuminations throughout the Garden. The Park will be adorned with 70 giant decorations including 47 life-size animals, the park promises. From December 16, automaton orchestras in large Christmas balls will be installed and the famous video mappings will be projected on the Cambron Tower, the neoclassical Château and on a 50-meter water screen springing from the lake. From December 23, the Grand Dôme, transformed into a white Christmas village under a sky of Northern Lights, will welcome visitors with music and small seasonal dishes (December 24-25-31 and January 1, entertainment n will not take place).”

If Plopsaland opens its park at Christmas for the third time, it will however be a first for Walibi and Bellewaerde. The Wavrien park will also take the opportunity to inaugurate the new Aqualibi on December 21. For Christmas activities, Walibi is highlighting some new features. “Opening the park in winter was only possible for us on the condition that we might see things in a big way and surprise our audience once once more. The work of the teams to transform the park into an enchanted and sparkling world will, I am sure, dazzle families and groups of friends looking for warm moments during the end-of-year holidays,” declared park director Jean- Christophe Parent at the announcement of the winter opening. In total, 4 themed areas will be discovered while all the usual attractions will be accessible.

On the Bellewaerde side, which like Walibi belongs to the Compagnie des Alpes group, we are planning a tent which will house some attractions. The usual rides like the Wakala and the Huracan will also be accessible, as will the new Hampi and Psssht Station. A more modest opening, therefore.
