Labor and social law advice now in Romanian, Russian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Arabic
Vienna (OTS) – In the new year, the ÖGB is taking another important step in supporting employees with a migrant background. From January 2024, the native language advice offering will be expanded to five languages: In the future, advice will take place in Romanian, Russian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Arabic.
The ÖGB experts will provide employees with advice and support both online and in person in the areas of labor and social law. With their specialist knowledge and their extensive networks, the ÖGB consultants have successfully helped many people in precarious situations in recent years and prevented them from slipping into a state of emergency. For example, a Bulgarian harvest worker was recently able to access sick pay following a serious accident at work. In another case, full sick pay was obtained for a supplier who had an accident by correcting questionable behavior on the part of the employer.
“Our native-speaking labor and social law advice makes a significant contribution to ensuring that people with language barriers get justice. It is precisely those who do not have German as their native language who are often affected by exploitation. With our advice, we make a significant contribution to combating labor exploitation and wage and social dumping, promoting the integration of employees into the labor market and society and combating poverty. And that’s not just good for the affected employees, but for everyone,” emphasizes Willi Mernyi, ÖGB Federal Managing Director.
From January 8, 2024, ÖGB advisors will be available to make appointments by email at oegb@oegb.at and by telephone at 01/534 44-39100.
The ÖGB’s native language labor and social law advice is a project funded by the Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs as well as the Ministry of Social Affairs. (at the)
