The Shanghai Museum launches a blockbuster New Year’s Eve exhibition: Dialogue with Leonardo da Vinci – Special Exhibition of Renaissance and Oriental Aesthetics.

The exhibition features a selection of 18 authentic Renaissance art treasures, including Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece “Lady with Flowing Hair” oil painting and a selected manuscript of “Codices Atlanticus”, two precious sketches by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci Important paintings by disciples; as well as 18 masterpieces of ancient Chinese paintings handed down from generation to generation, such as “The Turning Car at the Gate” of the Five Dynasties, “The Portrait of the Taoist Monarch in White Drawing” by Liang Kai of the Southern Song Dynasty, and “The Picture of the Fan in the Autumn Wind” by Tang Yin of the Ming Dynasty, telling the audience regarding the harmony between the East and the West. This is the third major exhibition of the Shanghai Museum’s “Dialogue with the World” cultural relics and art series, and it is also the first comparative exhibition of Eastern and Western paintings. Among them, “Woman with Flowing Hair” is currently the only authentic Leonardo da Vinci oil painting that can be exported from Italy. It is known as the “most mysterious” oil painting by Leonardo da Vinci. It was created when the artist was in his fifties. In addition, the exhibition will also display two precious sketches by Michelangelo, one of the “Three Masters of the Renaissance”, as well as paintings by Leonardo da Vinci’s disciples Portafeo, Melzi and Luini.
