Beci is furious and the anger continues. The Brussels Chamber of Commerce cannot digest the rejection of the appeal once morest the ongoing redevelopment of Avenue Van Praet. The Brussels Region, under the leadership of Elke Van den Brandt (Groen), is completely transforming this northern gateway to Brussels. An announced transformation of the A12 into “A-soft”. Work has been launched to make Avenue Van Praet two-way. Its parallel, Avenue des Croix de Feu, will become a “walking path”. The number of lanes on Van Praet will therefore be reduced to one lane towards the canal and two towards Flanders.

“I am not in the habit of commenting on court decisions,” declared Olivier Willocx, managing director of Beci in a press release. “I just hope that no state officials will still need to enter the town via the A12 following the works.”

The transformation of the A12 into “A-douce” begins with a vast construction site on Avenue Van Praet: “it will be chaos”, fear the Port companies

The federation assures “not to give up” and more broadly castigates the vision of the majority of Rudi Vervoort (PS). “It’s not a city 15 minutes away that they’re preparing for us, but a prison!”

Since the end of summer, work has been underway. A new phase has just been initiated this month of December: traffic on Avenue des Croix du Feu is now directed to Avenue Van Praet thanks to a new roundregarding. This has generated significant queue increases on this axis in recent days.

Soon a radar section on avenue Van Praet: it will be installed following the construction site and will flash in both directions

Remember that the vast redevelopment only concerns the part of the avenue between the canal and the De Wand roundregarding. No political agreement within the regional executive has yet been reached for the northern section, the work of which is postponed to the next legislature.
