The IT sector is in a turbulent zone. This is what an Adecco study published at the end of November mentioned. Which highlighted that the personnel shortage is easing with regard to developers and analysts of software and IT applications, with fewer vacant jobs, but also a sharp increase in job seekers. In September 2023, the number of unemployed people showed an increase of 44.8% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Surprising when you know how much demand for information technology (IT) profiles has been in recent years. But not all professionals are in the same boat. Charles Genesty, specialist for the IT and data executive recruitment firm Robert Walters, observes: “This year has been more eventful, with a redefinition of business expectations. IT professionals whose skills are less up to date or functions such as IT support or IT development are a little less in demand, and some large groups have been outsourcing them outside Switzerland for years. But expertise for systems engineers or data experts is still in high demand.”
