The PyME-ADENEU Center, together with the Neuquén Rural Society and a group of producers from the province who apply regenerative livestock farming in their fields, They organized an open day to publicize the methodology with the help of a specialist.
Producers, technicians and students participated in the day from Aluminé, from Northern Neuquén, from Junín de los Andes and from Alicurá.
The contents were in charge of the agronomist and businessman Bruno Vasquetto, who explained: “The proposal of the day was to present a way of doing livestock that we have been working on for 11 years in the company., with the idea of producing more kilos per hectare, but also thinking regarding pasture and soil resources, with the aim of ensuring future sustainability for future generations. The methodology contemplates an economic, social and environmental impact.”
Vasquetto, together with other partners, manages the “El Mate” establishment, in the province of Córdoba. is defined as a regenerative livestock company, which produces cattle, sheep and poultry.
“We have cultivated meadows with natural grasses and we are dedicated to raising cattle and sheep, and producing eggs. We export 800 steers per year,” said Vasquetto.

The specialist shared that “we started in 2012 with the methodology, we were doing poorly economically, with the application of the conventional agricultural system. In addition to the numbers in red, we noticed a lot of degradation. We stop the ball and evaluate where to go. We learned regarding this method and began to implement it gradually. It can’t be done overnight, they are transitions. There were mistakes along the way, but things went well for us.”.
Regarding the day, he expressed his surprise at the number of participants. “You expect it in the Salado Basin in Buenos Aires. In a province where livestock farming is not the main economic activity, it was a huge surprise”.
To carry it out, the event had the support of various local companies: Abraham Neiman Servicios, Ruuts, Halkis, Cabaña Lonqueo, Barraca Martinez SRL, Altos de Aluminé, Criollos Catatún, Tranquera Sur, La Pampa – Forrajería y Veterinaria, Estancia Huechahue, CREA, Carnes Mucca and Veterinaria Zapala.
I leave impressed by the potential of the fields. With improvements in management, many more kilos of meat can be produced per hectare.

Regarding the extensive systems of the region, Vasquetto pointed out: “I leave impressed by the potential of the fields. I thought I was going to find an environment with more limitations, but there is a very good environment. With improvements in management there is the possibility of producing many more kilos of meat per hectare.”
Regarding the methodology, he indicated that “it has no limitations, it is important to adapt it to the regions where we work, in geographical matters. The limitations come more from the producers’ paradigms.. We have deep-seated issues, so it is necessary to break the barrier to adapt this system.”
Regarding its adoption at the national level, he maintained that “it has been growing exponentially, at the surface level it is very little, but if we look at it at the level of cases, it is exponential. 15 or 20 years ago there were very few. Since the pandemic it has multiplied here. I think that due to a question of how the grasslands are degraded, it will have more and more adoption”.
Pilot plan
In 2022, 8 Neuquén producers, owners of fields located in the ecological areas of the mountains, plateaus and foothills, They began to implement regenerative livestock farming.
Since then Open days have been held to make the methodology known to other producers and show the results obtained so far, with the aim of getting more establishments to join.
The application was carried out through the Pilot Plan in Regenerative Livestock that organized the SME-ADENEU Center, with the support of the consulting firm Halkis.
