The Korea Federation of Banks announced on the 15th that it has jointly prepared a support plan of 3 billion won with the banking sector to successfully host the ‘2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games’, which is regarding a month away.

‘Gangwon 2024’, which will be held in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Pyeongchang, Gangneung, Jeongseon, and Hoengseong) from January 19 to February 1 next year, is the first Winter Youth Olympics held in Asia.

It is characterized by increased sustainability by inheriting the facilities and legacy of the ‘2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games’.

It is the largest event ever with over 1,900 athletes from over 80 countries participating, and will not only feature sports competitions for athletes, but also cultural and educational programs to expand the experiences of youth from each country.

Cho Yong-byeong, chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks, said, “We hope that this joint support from the banking sector will serve as an opportunity for other sectors to join in the journey to successfully host the ‘2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.’” He added, “We will continue to promote sustainable growth and a healthy culture in our society.” “To spread value, we will carry out social responsibility activities in various fields, including the sports industry, together with banks,” he said.
