Klingenthal double and eight podium places in six competitions – the start to the new World Cup season might hardly have gone better for the German ski jumpers.
There is therefore great hope that the DSV athletes around Karl Geiger, Andreas Wellinger and Pius Paschke will be able to have a serious say in the fight for overall victory at the upcoming Four Hills Tournament.
Before that happens, however, the German ski jumping aces need to gain more self-confidence at the World Cup in Engelberg (December 15th to 17th) and score important World Cup points – just like in the recent past. Almost exactly two years ago to the day, Geiger won on the Gross-Titlis ski jump.
However, repeating that coup won’t be that easy this year: following all, overall World Cup leader Stefan Kraft from Austria proved almost unbeatable, with the exception of the competitions in Klingenthal.
