The Revolutionary Guard media is demanding decisions that will push Iranians to participate in the elections
A newspaper affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards called on the government and parliament to avoid economic decisions that would lead Iranians to boycott the legislative elections scheduled for the beginning of next March.
The newspaper “Joan” warned of government plans to significantly increase taxation and public expenditures. It said in its issue published on Thursday that this will lead to people not turning out for the ballot boxes.
The newspaper called for taking decisions to improve people’s lives during the next three months, to influence Iranians’ motivations to participate in the elections.
The newspaper wrote: “At this stage; The decisions and arrangements of statesmen, especially the agencies related to the economic and living situation, are an undeniable factor in shaping society’s behavior, and most social experts believe that the outcome of the government’s economic performance decisions in the field of inflation and high prices during the next three months will directly affect the electoral motivation of citizens.”
She added: “A group of observers are following with concern and tension the government’s directions in the draft budget, and its plan to increase taxes, or increase public expenditures for citizens.”
In addition to the economic file, the newspaper said, “The policies and directions of the government’s diplomatic apparatus and foreign trade in regulating regional and international relations will be under the microscope of public opinion during the election season.” She added: “The results of these trends will directly affect citizens’ electoral trends.”
The Iranian Parliament rejected the broad outlines of the budget presented earlier this month by President Ebrahim Raisi. Representatives criticizing the draft budget said that it presents unrealistic numbers and may lead to a budget shortfall.
The warning from the newspaper, which is affiliated with the Political Bureau of the Revolutionary Guards, came at a time when a video clip of rare criticism by an Iranian cleric directed at Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was widely circulated over the past two days.
Mohammad Taqi Akbarnejad, head of the seminary (schools for Shiite clerics), in the city of Ganjaur, located in Kermanshah province, criticized the Leadership Council of Experts, which includes 88 influential clerics and whose constitutional duties are to supervise the administration of the guide.
Akbar Nejad recounts a conversation that took place between him and an Iranian citizen in one of the mosques. He says he heard the citizen “talking sadly” that Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei “is not our leader; But he is the leader of the Yemenis and the Palestinians. “I feel like he thinks regarding them more than us.”

According to Akbar Nejad, he faced questions from the citizen regarding the reasons for the “guide’s silence” regarding the jump in the price of the dollar to record levels. He says: “The guide did not take any action.” He did not say that our people are a red line. Our people should not face this predicament, and prices should not rise. This issue must be resolved; “If it requires changing our foreign policy, this must be our priority.” He adds: “I am not Khamenei’s priority; His priority is Yemen and Palestine.”
Then Akbar Nejad says: “I have no business with whether the citizen’s statement is true or not, but I am talking regarding his impression; He feels that the Supreme Leader is announcing our position when a Palestinian citizen bleeds from his nose, but 20,000 Iranians die annually in traffic accidents. Thousands of women are widowed, and thousands of children are orphaned, but the guide did not take any position. He did not demand a solution to this issue.” He continues: “This is the focus of development and politics, and it is not for us to make decisions abroad and work to circulate them at home. “The issue is clear. We must open our eyes and not deceive ourselves.”
He referred to “the Iranians’ move away from religiosity” and said: “What you are saying is that the Iranians are more religious following the 1979 revolution; Why can’t we see it and only you can see it?
He expressed his surprise at the silence of the Leadership Council of Experts. He said: “Where are they?” Are you alive or dead? How come they didn’t ask the guide even once; Why doesn’t he explain to us where this summit he is talking regarding is? Why don’t people see it? People took to the streets following promising to reach the summit.”
Akbar Nejad said that he asked one of the defenders of the Iranian leader’s policies: “If Khamenei had been president of the republic with this performance; Will you not be among his critics instead of justifying his actions?
