After several days of negotiations, what most fans expected finally materialized: for Reynoso to step aside and take over as the League 1 champion coach.
The FPF has already announced the departure of Reynoso and the Uruguayan has the path clear to lead La Bicolor. The announcement would be made in a few hours.
In this way, Fossati would leave Universitario following a successful season where he managed to become champion and would now assume the reins of the bicolor, which is last in the Qualifiers with only two points out of a possible 18.
The Uruguayan coach will be able to play international friendlies and the Copa América before resuming the Qualifiers, which resume in September of next year.
Goodbye, Reynoso
Juan Reynoso stopped being Peru’s coach and this was announced by the FPF.
“The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) thanks Professor Juan Máximo Reynoso for the commitment in his management at the helm of La Bicolor. Today it is our responsibility to inform that the best understanding has been reached to complete his cycle as technical director and we express our best wishes for success in the next steps of his professional career, also to the members of his technical staff,” the document says.
And they add: “Juan Reynoso and his work team were a national commitment of the FPF due to their experience and great proven track record and we are sure that they will once once more successfully represent Peruvian technicians in their next destinations.”
