The court found Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan and his friend and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi guilty in the Sifar case. The decision of the special court of Pakistan is in the case of leaking top secret documents affecting national security and breaking the law. The court proceedings were completed in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail where both the leaders are lodged. Judge Abdul Hasnat Zulqernain convicted both of them in the case. Imran Khan and Qureshi were present in the courtroom. Both said they are innocent in the case.

This is the second time that the court has ruled both of them guilty in the Cipher case. The first verdict was on October 23. But the Islamabad High Court quashed the verdict. The trial in the case started once more on the 4th of this month following the order of the High Court that the court proceedings were illegal and that the trial should be conducted once more.
The Federal Investigation Agency filed the Cipher case on August 15, alleging a breach of the country’s top security laws. The two were accused of leaking important information sent by the Pakistan Embassy in March last year.
