European ETF Market Reaches New Milestone with $1,720 Billion in Assets Under Management: November 2023 Update and Analysis

A new milestone has been reached. After reaching an unprecedented peak of $1,690 billion in assets under management in July, the European ETF market represented $1,720 billion at the end of November, according to data from the specialist ETFGI. Collection amounted to $18.24 billion during the month of November, totaling $138.49 billion in net inflows since the start of the year. This is the second largest recorded collection, following 2021 which then captured $181.69 billion. After 14 consecutive months of net inflows, the European market has increased by 21.6% since January 2023, when assets under management represented $1,420 billion.

“The S&P 500 index rose 9.13% in November and is up 20.8% since the start of 2023. Developed markets, excluding the United States, are up 9. .75% in November and 11.65% since the start of 2023. Emerging markets increased by 7.19% in November and 6.98% since the start of 2023,” comments Deborah Fuhr, managing partner and founder of ETFGI.

In detail, equity ETFs collected $12.12 billion in November, bringing net inflows for the year to $80.02 billion, an increase of 54.3% compared to the results for the year. former. Bond ETFs are also progressing, with a collection of $7.90 billion in November, bringing net inflows for the year to $59.12 billion, a significant increase of 89.6% compared to the amount recorded in 2022. at the same period. The most significant increase is in actively managed ETFs, with net inflows since the start of the year representing $6.26 billion, almost 2.5 times more than the previous year. Conversely, outflows from commodity ETFs/ETPs are increasing. In November, outflows accounted for $2.17 billion, bringing year-to-date outflows to $6.96 billion, well above the $4.01 billion in net outflows recorded in 2022.

According to ETFGI, $13.53 billion in net inflows were captured by the top 20 ETFs by net new inflows in November. L’iShares Core € Corp Bond UCITS ETF (IE00B3F81R35) raised $2.69 billion, the largest individual collection.
