Craig Berube on Tuesday night became the third NHL head coach to lose his job this season.
The St. Louis Blues announced his dismissal in a press release, a few hours following the 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings at home.
It was the Blues’ fourth straight loss in regulation time.
General manager Doug Armstrong said the interim coach will be Drew Bannister, who until today led the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL.
Berube had a three-year contract in his pocket which linked him to the Blues until the end of the 2024-2025 calendar.
St. Louis had a rough first third of the season, posting a 13-14-1 record. The Missouri team comes in sixth place in the Central division, one point behind the Arizona Coyotes.
