“There are now more than 180 thousand people without power supply in Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Azov, Neklinovsky, Azovsky, Kamensky and other areas. A high alert regime has been introduced in Rostov-on-Don, Aksai and the Belokalitvinsky district,” the governor said in a statement.

Governor Golubev clarified that the Rosseti company attracted additional more than 20 teams from neighboring regions for emergency work. In total, 504 people and 192 pieces of equipment are involved in eliminating accidents; work is going on around the clock.

Let us remind you that the cause of large-scale power outages in the Rostov region was bad weather – ice and gusty winds. During the day, 150 thousand people found themselves in the blackout zone. A state of emergency was introduced in Aksai and the Aksai region, where the situation is the most difficult. In Aksai today, due to icing, a power line support broke and bent.

The capital of the region, Rostov-on-Don, turned into a giant skating rink due to freezing rain. Local residents share videos online of how they literally have to crawl to get to school and work.
