Marrakech at the time of the Arab Entrepreneurship Summit – Today Morocco

The work of the Arab Entrepreneurship Summit opened on Tuesday in Marrakech, at the initiative of the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills and the Economic and Social Commission of the Nations United Nations for West Asia (ESCWA).

Organized under the theme “From Resilience to Prosperity”, this Summit provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to take advantage of inter-regional opportunities that will be available through various meetings, with high-level representation from Arab countries, regional and international organizations, as well as entities specializing in entrepreneurship and sustainable development.

Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri noted that the uncertainties linked to the situation of the Covid-19 crisis have created a lack of prospects and clear visions of the future among entrepreneurs and project leaders who found themselves obliged to find the means to move forward day following day.

In such a context, Mr. Sekkouri underlined the need to focus first and foremost on the very short term by consolidating efforts and energies in order to put in place the milestones necessary to overcome the crisis and its hazards.

The minister also discussed the repercussions of the health crisis on the change in consumer behavior and their expectations and ultimately on the business models and strategies of companies, particularly in terms of positioning.

Furthermore, Mr. Sekkouri highlighted the role of governments and organizations in creating opportunities and establishing policies aimed at attracting investments in different sectors, as well as the necessary regulatory and institutional framework, especially for generation who experienced this difficult situation.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Executive Secretary of ESCWA, Rola Dashti, and the President of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND – Arab Gulf Program for Development), Prince Abdelaziz Ben Talal Ben Abdelaziz Al Saud.

This Summit, which will continue until December 14, brings together more than 1,000 participants and an elite specialized in various fields such as investors, influencers, decision-makers, economists, journalists, international organizations and donors.

It aims to provide a regional platform to support entrepreneurship in the Arab region by strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities across local, national, regional and international levels.

It is also regarding stimulating and inspiring Arab entrepreneurs through regional and global business models and success stories, as well as strengthening the access of small and medium-sized businesses to opportunities and strategic partnerships to promote their growth. on a regional and international scale.
