The hearing between Ousmane Sonko and the State of Senegal has started at the Dakar Court. This Tuesday, the Dakar court of first instance must decide whether to remove or reinstate the Senegalese opponent from the electoral lists.

However, from the first minutes of the hearing, an argument broke out between Ousmane Sonko’s lawyers and the state judicial agent (AJE). In fact, Sonko’s counsel asked the judge for 5 hours to plead because there are 35 of them. On the side of the State of Senegal, there are 5 lawyers. The judge decided to give each party 4 hours. What Me Fall (Sonko’s lawyer) did not accept. For him the judge had already taken sides. Which irritated the AJE, which responded and asked Sonko’s counsel to address the Court because it is not he who decides the time.

In turn, the judge declared: “I won’t allow you to say that I took sides, you don’t know me. Remove these comments.”

As a reminder, Ousmane Sonko’s lawyers were not present in the room around 8 a.m., when the judge announced the start of the hearing. The opponent’s lawyers were at that time in room 4, while the hearing was moved to room 7. “Each part must be put in good condition. We did not know that the hearing was going to be held in this room. We were in the room with several of my colleagues, which is why we were late in reaching room 7. I am informing you of others who are leaving Ziguinchor to join us. So I ask that each lawyer be able to have 20 minutes to plead, we will not accept that the time is limited”declared Me Bamba Cissé.
