Too little competition, too little transparency and a “lost decade”: These were drastic words that the EU Court of Auditors recently chose in its report on public procurement. In the past ten years, fewer companies have taken part in procurement procedures. Instead, authorities in EU member states often contacted specific providers directly. In addition, there are “continuing problems with a lack of transparency”.
