Julio Cáceres Arce, commercial director of Cementos, Concretes and Lime of the Gloria Group, indicated to Gestión that in the next two years they will be focused on continuing to develop the operation in Peru (installation of mobile lime milk plants, improving storage and distribution capacity ) in order to consolidate its leadership throughout its area of ​​influence.

Likewise, they will enhance their regional expansion, strengthening their presence in Chile and Ecuador. “We are expanding our objectives in the external market,” said Cáceres.

Strong in Chile

Although from 2022 they will arrive with their Intical brand in both neighboring countries, the expectations for the next five years in Chile are even more ambitious.

Cáceres Arce indicated to Gestión that by 2024 and for a period of five years, they are already confirmed as suppliers of lime to an important mining operation in Chile, a company dedicated to the production of copper concentrate, which has its operation in the region of Tarapacá, north of the neighboring country.

“This entry into the second largest mining site in Chile, and the third largest producer in the world, helps us strengthen our presence in the main operations in this part of the region. Our own logistics operator will even participate in part of this process. They will have the responsibility of moving our lime from Peru to a distribution center located in Pozo Almonte, Tarapacá,” the executive explained.

It should be noted that during this year alone, Calcesur exported 17,535 tons to Chile and 10,602 tons to Ecuador.

In both markets, their entry occurred in 2022 and they have currently consolidated their position in the international market.

Asked regarding the possibility of having new plants, Cáceres did not rule it out.

The company operates at 3,880 meters above sea level in Caracoto, Juliaca, Puno region, and has a production capacity of 1,000,000 tons per year.

Six decades in operation and double-digit growth

Regarding the closing of this year, Julio Cáceres indicated that 2023 will be a celebration, not only because the company turns 60 years old, but because in terms of its financial results, this year it will end with sales of more than S/ 350 million. soles, representing a growth of 25% compared to the previous year, reflecting an activation in demand, mainly from the mining (mineral recovery) and construction (mainly road works) sectors.

Meanwhile, regarding the expectations in the local market for next year, which is not very well expected in terms of new projects in the mining sector, Cáceres said that they trust that the procedures will be expedited to obtain operating permits for those future ones. developments.
