African Nations Junior Volleyball Championship 2023: Schedule, Matches, and Team Details

The junior volleyball team will face its Tunisian counterpart at 4:00 pm today, Tuesday, in its first match at the African Nations Championship, hosted by Libya.

Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Cameroon are participating in the tournament, in addition to Libya, the country hosting the event, following Algeria and Zimbabwe apologized.

It was decided that a one-round tournament would be held between the five teams, with the first 4 teams advancing to the semi-finals, where the first will face the fourth-placed team, and in the other semi-final, the second- and third-placed teams will face off.

Below are the tournament matches over the coming days:

The second day “Wednesday”

Tunisia faces Cameroon at four o’clock, and Libya meets Morocco at six o’clock.

The third day “Thursday”

Morocco faces Tunisia at four o’clock, and Cameroon meets Egypt at six o’clock.

Fourth day “Friday”

Egypt faces Morocco at four o’clock, and Tunisia faces Libya at six o’clock.

The fifth day “Saturday”

Morocco faces Cameroon at four o’clock, and Libya annexes Egypt at six o’clock.

The sixth day, Sunday, is a rest for all participating teams.

It is noteworthy that the first and second-place finishers from the tournament qualify directly to the 2024 World Championship.

The Egyptian delegation includes Dr. Youssef Hassan, a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors, as head of the delegation, Percy Onken, general supervisor of the team, Ahmed Al-Sayed, technical director, Mohamed Madbouly, general coach, Ahmed Al-Mahi, coach and technical analyst, Dr. Abdel-Rahman Ghanem, physical therapist, Mohamed Fouad Abu Hussein, administrative director of the team, and Captain Hani Fikry, the referee. The international is appointed by the Confederation of African Football.

The list of the U-17 junior team includes: Ahmed Abdel-Bari, Mohamed Nasr, Khaled Al-Feki, Mustafa Sharif, Hamza Yassin, Ziad Ghoneim, Marawan Metwally, Ziad Hnaideq, Ahmed Youssef, Ibrahim Ahmed, Fadi Hanafi, and Muhannad Rabie.

It is worth noting that the tournament is being organized for the first time for this age group, born in 2008, and qualifies for the 2024 World Championship.
